WHAT:

Mayor Kasim Reed will join Atlanta City Councilmember Cleta Winslow, Department of Parks and Recreation Commissioner, George Dusenbury, Executive Director of Park Pride, Michael Halicki and members of the community for the demolition of the Reverend James Orange Park at Oakland City pool and bathhouse.

Oakland City Pool has been closed since 2007. After the demolition, the City of Atlanta will begin to build a new pool, bathhouse and splashpad. This 15 acre park, which was named after Rev. James Orange, a native of Oakland City and respected civil rights activist, will also include a new pavilion, plaza, lighting, storm water management system and many other amenities.
