Atlanta Police Department To Participate In Mayor's Summer Reading Club
Path Force Unit will host two readings on the Atlanta Beltline
The Atlanta Police Department is participating in the Mayor’s Summer Reading Club and will host two readings along the Atlanta Beltline. The event will take place on Wednesday, July 23 from 2:00 p.m. - 3:30 p.m. The readings will be held on the Eastside (Skate Park) and Westside (Rose Circle Park) of the trail.
“The Atlanta Police Department is proud to support and participate in Mayor Kasim Reed’s Summer Reading Club,” said Police Chief George N. Turner. “The Department is actively engaging and investing in Atlanta’s youth and the Mayor’s Summer Reading Club is another program where our Department can make a positive impact on the community.”
Officers from the Atlanta Police Department’s Path Force Unit will read the book, Amari’s Bike Adventure. The book follows the lead character Amari as she explores the Atlanta Beltline and meets several helpful people including an Atlanta Police Path Force Officer. Launched last year, the Path Force Unit is dedicated to protecting the Beltline and adjacent parks.
Children attending the reading will receive a free book. The event will also include activities and free refreshments. The Skate Park is located at 830 Willoughby Way NE, Atlanta, GA 30312 and Rose Circle Park is located at 1030 White St SW, Atlanta, Georgia.
