Mayor Reed, Sustainability Director Stephanie Benfield and Environment Georgia Executive Director Jennette Gayer will launch the City of Atlanta’s first-ever solar energy program, called Solar Atlanta.

The program uses existing state legislation and federal tax credits to purchase and install solar panels on municipal buildings which will promote significant savings on the City of Atlanta’s electric bills. The solar panels are also projected to reduce the city’s carbon dioxide emissions by 73 million pounds and save 216 million gallons of water through the year 2030.
