Mayor Kasim Reed to Sign Bill for Feasibility Study of Proctor Creek

WHAT: |
Mayor Reed, Department of Watershed Management JoAnn Macrina and U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Brigadier General C. David Turner will sign a bill to enter into a three-year feasibility study of the Proctor Creek watershed and to share the cost for the analysis. The City of Atlanta is committing $300,000 this year to begin the study.
The Department of Watershed Management and Mayor’s Office of Sustainability are working together to identify and evaluate solutions to clean and restore Proctor Creek and will also partner with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USCOE). USCOE has significant resources and expertise that can support the City of Atlanta’s efforts to improve the environmental health and well-being of the Proctor Creek community.

In 2013, the United States Environmental Protection Agency Urban Waters Federal Partnership designated Proctor Creek as a priority Urban Waters location. The Partnership works to improve coordination and focus among federal agencies on problems in the watershed with community-led revitalization efforts.
