Atlanta Police Now Hiring For Police Officers

Make $500 Through The APD Referral Bonus Program

The City of Atlanta Police Department (APD) is always searching for good people to join our team. Research has shown, and our experience supports, that new hires that come into a company through employee referrals are excellent contributors, stay with the company longer, and are a more cost effective hire.

That’s where you come in! If you know someone who would be beneficial to the Atlanta Police Department and they meet the qualifications, it may also be beneficial to you with an incentive of up to $500! If your referral is hired and graduates from the training academy you will receive a $500 referral bonus. Additionally, we are also accepting referrals for Crime Scene Technicians and 9-1-1 Dispatcher candidates.

Refer candidates who meet the qualifications of these positions to the APD Recruitment Unit using the attached Candidate Referral Forms. The referral bonus will be awarded in two installments. The first installment will be awarded once your referral has passed the mandatory background screening and has been hired. The second installment will be awarded once your candidate successfully graduates from the Atlanta Police Academy within 30 days of their graduation date. Crime Scene Technicians and 9-1-1 Dispatcher referrals will receive the first installment once the individual passes the mandatory background screening and is hired. The second installment will be awarded once your candidate successfully completes the one year probationary period.

Program Rules:

1. Referral Eligibility: All City employees, except Human Resources personnel, Training Academy personnel, Recruitment Unit personnel, and managers with hiring authority over the referred candidates, are eligible to refer candidates. City of Atlanta Retired employees may be eligible to receive an incentive provided the submittal occurred prior to the employment status change with the City.

2. The referral must represent the candidate’s first contact with the Atlanta Police Department.

3. To be eligible for an incentive, the referrals must first be submitted to the APD Recruitment Unit, and must include a Candidate Referral Form.

4. The referring employee must agree to have his/her name used for introduction.

5. The first employee to refer a candidate will be the only referring employee eligible for payment.

6. Only candidates who meet the essential qualifications for the position will be considered.

7. All candidates will be evaluated for employment consistent with Atlanta Police Department policies and procedures.

8. All information regarding the hiring decision will remain strictly confidential.

9. Any disputes or interpretations of the program will be handled through the APD Recruitment Unit.

10. All referral incentive payments will be paid in two installments. The first installment of $250 will be paid when the candidate has been hired. The second installment will be awarded once your candidate successfully graduates from the Atlanta Police Department Training Academy within 30 days of their graduation date. For the Crime Scene Technicians and 9-1-1 Dispatcher Referrals, the second installment of $250 will be paid within 30 days after your candidate has completed their one year probationary period.

11. If you have any questions or concerns about the Employee Referral Program, please contact APD Recruitment Unit Sgt. M.D. Mitchell via email at MDMitchell@AtlantaGa.Gov or Sgt. G. Nelms via email at GNelms@AtlantaGa.Gov . They can also be reached at 404-546-7650.
