ATLANTA – The City of Atlanta Department of Corrections (DOC) will celebrate National Correctional Officers, Nurses and Employees Week, Monday, May 2 through Friday, May 6, 2016, with a series of events and activities. National Correctional Officers, Nurses and Employees Week pays tribute to the contributions of correctional officers, nurses and other personnel who work in jails, prisons and community corrections facilities across the country.
“Correctional officers are vital members of the esteemed sisterhood and brotherhood of law enforcement professionals who put their lives at risk every day to protect our safety,” said DOC Chief Patrick Labat. “National Correctional Officers, Nurses and Employees Week provides an opportunity for us to remember fallen officers, reunite with retired personnel and recognize exemplary staff for their service to the residents of Atlanta and to the corrections profession.”
