Statement from Mayor Kasim Reed on the Anniversary of September 11, 2001
ATLANTA Thế giới cá– “Fifteen years ago today, the world witnessed the cowardly terrorist strikes on America that killed nearly 3,000 innocent people and changed forever how we see the world, and how the world views itself. But the violence of September 11, 2001 could not alter America’s character, or weaken our resolve to fight evil, or diminish our unshakeable belief in a free society that honors individual dignity and human rights.
Those dark hours only made us more determined to confront the challenges and dangers of the modern world, and to respond with a strong and clear-eyed purpose whenever our liberties are threatened. Like the brave citizens who fought their attackers that day, and the first responders willing to sacrifice their lives in the rush to rescue, America draws on a deep wellspring of courage when faced with adversity.
Today, as every day, we respectfully remember and mourn those lost. But make no mistake that Americans stand resilient and united in the preservation of freedom and the unconquerable values that make this the greatest nation on Earth.”
