Mayor Kasim Reed will join officials from the Georgia Historical Society and the Georgia World Congress Center Authority, as well as Ambassador Andrew Young and other community stakeholders to install a new historical marker for the 1996 Summer Olympic Games during a special commemoration service.

The 1996 Summer Olympics was instrumental in elevating Atlanta to international status and recognition, and providing avenues for significant growth in the City.

Centennial Olympic Park, which is the site of the historical marker, emerged as the catalyst for surrounding development and the lasting legacy of the Games.
