WHAT: |
Many families are eligible for the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC); yet, in Atlanta millions of dollars go unclaimed by eligible families who fail to claim their tax credit. Eligible citizens can obtain this credit through using free tax preparation services at local Volunteer Income Tax (VITA) Centers. This tax credit could mean more money for the tax payer and reduce the amount of taxes owed. EITC dollars have a strong economic impact on local communities. The 2010 tax season resulted in $20.5 million dollars in the City of Atlanta.
