What is the Housing Commission?
The City of Atlanta Housing Commission is an independent body created by the Atlanta City Council to provide recommendations to the Mayor and City Council on housing policies, procedures, practices, and financing. The Commission meets on the second Monday of each month at 10:00 AM in Committee Room 1 of Atlanta City Hall.
The specific responsibilities of the Commission include:
- Reviewing the housing policies of the City
- Reviewing the City’s permitting procedures related to the construction and rehabilitation of housing
- Exploring creative methods of financing affordable housing
- Reviewing best practices in housing policies, practices and procedures of other jurisdictions
